This beautiful property in Powys, Wales, felt dark and enclosed despite its generous footprint and surrounding countryside views. The homeowners wanted to open up the space, bring in more daylight, and create a brighter, more modern feel—without undertaking a full loft conversion.

Our solution was a bespoke skylight installation, involving the construction of a large lightwell above the kitchen and the installation of four rooflights set into the existing slate roof. This transformation has completely reimagined the room, allowing natural light to cascade down into the heart of the home.

Skylight Installation Project Overview

This project involved creating a large feature lightwell in the kitchen of a Powys property and installing four new skylights into the existing slate roof. The work included opening the internal ceiling, forming a deep angled shaft to match the roof pitch, preparing and cutting new roof openings, and fitting high-performance rooflights with full weatherproofing and re-slating. The aim was to maximise natural light and improve the overall feel of the space without altering the building footprint.

Having been duped by different roofing repairers it was a great pleasure to meet the One Stop team as they appeared so professional.  A fully itemized and competitive quote was produced as well as a timeline for doing the work. As the weather was extremely hot they started early in the morning and finished in mid afternoon.
